The present invention provides a coated tool having a diamond layer, said tool having increased defect resistance, suppressing the occurrence of chipping, peeling and the like in the diamond layer, and having high abrasion resistance. Provided is a coated tool such as a drill (1) having a diamond layer (6) coated on the surface of a substrate (5), said diamond layer (6) having a first coating layer (17) disposed on the substrate (5) side and a second coating layer (18) disposed upon the first coating layer (17), wherein the average particle size of second diamond particles which constitute the second coating layer (18) is smaller than the average particle size of first diamond particles which constitute the first coating layer (17), and the diamond layer (6) contains hydrogen, wherein the hydrogen content of the second coating layer (18) is higher than the hydrogen content of the first coating layer (17). |
