SOLID CATALYST FOR PRODUCING ALDEHYDE, AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ALDEHYDE

Provided are: a solid catalyst which, when producing an aldehyde by hydrogenating a carboxylic acid in a gaseous phase, attains a high selectivity to the aldehyde; and a process for producing an aldehyde using the solid catalyst. This solid catalyst is a solid catalyst for producing an aldehyde by hydrogenating a carboxylic acid in a gaseous phase, and is characterized by having a structure obtained by adhering a catalyst powder to the outer surface of a support to coat the surface with a layer of the catalyst powder. This process for producing an aldehyde is characterized by using the solid catalyst.
