[Classes 75 (i), 75 (ii), 75 (iii), and 75 (iv).] A street or like lamp comprises a plurality of substantially parabolic trough-shaped reflectors each extending continuously from its upper margin behind and above an inverted incandescent gas burner to its lower margin below the burner so as to produce concentrated beams. The reflectors are made of sheet material, preferably polished stainless steel, and are supported by one or more brackets the profiles of which are shaped to correspond to the desired profiles of the reflectors. The sides of the lamp casing may be glazed so as to produce a general diffused illumination. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the reflectors 22 are secured by screws 25 to a pair of substantially triangular cast metal brackets 23 and are supplemented by a reflecting screen 26 made of enamelled sheet metal. The lamp casing is glazed to form front windows or doors 11 and side windows 27, and is supported upon a box casting 16 containing an automatic time switch 20. The box 16 is provided with inspection doors 19 and with a socket 17 for securing it to a lamp post or the like. Gas supplied by a pipe 46 passes partly to a byepass pipe 49 and partly through the time switch 20 and a pipe 47 to a pair of injector bodies 40. In each of the latter is slidably mounted a mixing tube 30 which is clamped in position by a thumb screw 41 and is connected to a superheater 28 carrying a number of burners 29. The air supply is controlled by a sleeve 42 operated from outside the lamp by means of a rod 43 with a locking device 44, whilst the gas injector nozzle is formed upon a taper plug withdrawable by means of a screw-threaded nut 45. Each super-heater is adjustable vertically and horizontally by means of a screwed supporting rod 31 in engagement with a slotted bar 34 which is carried by a transverse stay 35 secured to the casing by means of a vertical rod 36. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the lamp casing 10 is pivotally carried by a U-shaped bracket the arms 51, 52 of which extend from a box 53 containing the automatic time switch. Packing glands 54 are provided so that the arms may carry the main and byepass gas supplies. The lamp casing may be constructed to receive more than two reflectors, these being arranged side by side in sets, or around a centre. Specification 405,434 is referred to. |
