A method for generating a token for use in a transaction by a user device, the method comprising a token generator: obtaining data stored within a Secure Element, SE, of an SE module of a smartphone 403; and generating a token in dependence on the obtained data 405. Advantageously, the personal data, such as Primary Account Number (PAN) and its expiry date, required to generate a token request is securely stored on the user device itself and not a server remote from the user device. In this way, security of personal data is improved as said data never leaves the SE during the token generation process. |
