A device for converting energy in a storm such as hurricanes, tornados, cyclones and typhoons into electricity, comprising metal electrodes 3 covered with spikes and mounted on supporting towers 7, 11, 14, that are installed in the potential path of a storm into electricity. Preferably the electrodes are made from aluminium or any other metal that can collect electrical charges. The spike of the electrodes ionizes the water vapour in the storms, and can be shaped as prongs or as stiff bristles. A plurality of electrodes 3 may be positioned on the towers, and they may vary in size and shape, and may be positioned underwater. The electrodes are connected to power cables 10 that send the energy to a generating power station from which the electricity may be stored in battery banks. The towers may be positioned onshore or offshore, and in lines, wavy lines, or staggered to increase the devices ability to capture energy from a storm. The devices may also be used to exhaust a storm. The device may have safety features such as flashing beacons and be covered in netting to protect wildlife from the being injured by the spikes.
|
