摘要 A system includes a plurality of beam transceivers, preferably a plurality of intersecting LIDAR optical head beam transceivers 5, 6, 7, 8 mounted on one or more frames 15 attached to one or more columns, wherein the beams 21, 22, 23, are arranged to converge at a specified point 50. The apparatus is used as a three-dimensional wind vector field measurement system for localised velocity measurement enabling mapping of the wind field across an extended spatial region. The transceivers may be mounted on a wind turbine tower 70, or on a meteorological mast, or a floating buoy for measuring conditions around an offshore wind farm, for example. The optical heads may use RADAR, SODAR, Doppler LIDAR, Continuous Wave (CW) LIDAR, or Pulsed LIDAR. The apparatus may include position and orientation sensors. The beams can measure additional characteristics such as turbulence intensity. The data gathered can be used to inform a wind turbine control system, or assist with planning sites intended for wind turbines. The frame structure may be collapsible or removable.
