A communication system 100 such as LTE cellular network includes a communication device 3 (e.g. mobile phone or user equipment, UE) communicating with a communication apparatus 7-2 (e.g. E-UTRAN base station, low power node, eNodeB or eNB) that operates a licensed assisted access (LAA) cell 11-2. The communication device 3 may include a controller that is adapted to: generate a control signal such as Scheduling Request (SR) or Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) for transmitting to said communication apparatus 7-2; perform a listen-before-talk procedure (LBT) such as clear channel assessment (CCA) or channel sensing (CS) on said PUCCH before the control signal is transmitted; and block transmission of the control signal on said PUCCH when said CCA indicates that said channel is not clear. |
