PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader/writer device capable of automatically determining whether the battery of a mobile device is exhausted, and controlling to charge the battery of the mobile device according to the determination result.SOLUTION: A reader/writer device 3 includes: a reader/writer unit 31 having a reader/writer coil 35 connected thereto, for contactless data communication with a short-range contactless IC chip 21; a power supply unit 33 having a power supply coil 34 connected thereto, for supplying power to a battery 22 to operate the short-range contactless IC chip 21 by electromagnetic induction; a sensor 32 for detecting the presence of an object in the near range; and according to the detection of the object by the sensor 32, a control unit 30 for operating the reader/writer unit 31 to confirm the residual power of the battery 22, and for operating the power supply unit 33 in a state of operating the reader/writer unit 31, to start charging processing when the power of the battery 22 cannot be confirmed. |
