[Class 79 (v).] A motor vehicle having independent front wheel springing has separate drag links 24 for each stub axle connected with an Ackerman steering system 25, 26 carried by the chassis frame and operated by a steering gear 29 arranged in front of it. The spring suspension comprises a single transverse spring 14 carried by the chassis frame 11 and pivoted to the upper parts of brackets 19 carried by the stub axles, and transverse radius arms 22 having damped pivotal mountings 23 on the frame and being also pivoted at 21 to the brackets 19. The stub axles are extended inwardly to form steering arms 17 pivoted to the drag links 24. The rear ends of the drag links are connected to bell crank levers 25 connected together by a track rod 26. One lever 25 is operated by the steering gear 29 through a link 27. The transverse spring 14 is arranged so as to slope slightly rearwardly and is bolted to two channel-section cross members 12 which are placed back-to-back and connect the side members 11 of the frame together. Modifications are described in which (1) the spring 14 is pivoted to a bracket fixed to the channel members 12, and (2) the spring is sloped substantially rearwardly and the drag links 24 are also sloping, being connected to an upper extension of the steering pivot.
