The method involves controlling a braking current of an elevator motor (4) e.g. permanently magnetized synchronous motor, by opening and closing with short pulses of a negative changeover contacts (10) or positive changeover contacts (17) of the inverter (16) of a frequency converter (2). A braking power is transmitted via the motor to an intermediate circuit of the frequency converter. A control device controls the frequency converter and receives its operating electricity from the braking power of the motor. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for braking a synchronous motor used with a frequency converter. |
