<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous ceramic capable of carrying a photocatalyst without use of a binder, a photocatalyst carrier having a high photocatalytic effect, and a purifier using the porous ceramic and the photocatalyst carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The porous ceramic includes pores with a pore diameter of 1 μm or less. The porous ceramic is formed by a foaming agent being added to a green body containing, for example, clay, feldspar, and porcelain stone, and the resultant material being sintered.
