<p>This cutting insert (1) has: an upper face (2); a side face (4) having a front side face (4a), and a first lateral side face (4ba) and a second lateral side face (4bb) adjacent to either end part of the front side face (4a); a front cutting edge (5a) positioned at the intersection between the upper face (2) and the front side face (4a); and a first lateral cutting edge (5ba) positioned at the intersection between the upper face (2) and the first lateral side face (4ba). The upper face (2) has a first lateral rake face (21ba), which is continuous with the first lateral cutting edge (5ba). The first lateral rake face (21ba) has a first descending part (21ba1) and a second descending part (21ba4) positioned in sequence of increasing distance from the first lateral cutting edge (5ba). The first descending part (21ba1) and the second descending part (21ba4) are inclined downward, and are positioned at a distance from each other.</p> |
