<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a concentrator for increasing the particle concentration in an aerosol flow.SOLUTION: A concentrator comprises a sculptured acceleration plate with a plurality of slit-shaped and radially extending acceleration channels, and a sculptured deceleration plate 7120 with a plurality of slit-shaped and radially extending deceleration plate channels. A plurality of acceleration channel exit openings are spaced from a base surface on an exit side of the acceleration plate, and a plurality of sculptured deceleration channel entry openings are spaced from a base surface on an entry side of the deceleration plate so that a relatively large gap 7300 is provided between the acceleration plate base surface and the deceleration plate base surface to allow a waste volume flow to be exhausted through the relatively large gap at low flow resistance. The plurality of openings comprise openings of at least two different lengths.</p> |
