PHOTOACOUSTIC-INTEGRATED FOCUSED UTRASOUND APPARATUS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

The present invention is to provide an integrated photoacoustic and ultrasound apparatus for diagnosis and treatment. The integrated photoacoustic and ultrasound apparatus for diagnosis and treatment according to the present invention: enables the accurate molecular image diagnosis for body tissues from photoacoustic signals generated from body tissues by laser irradiated from an optical fiber; and facilitates non-pervasive treatment inducement around affected portions in body tissues by high power integrated ultrasound waves. The integrated photoacoustic and ultrasound apparatus for diagnosis and treatment according to the present invention comprises: a photoacoustic signal detector which detects photoacoustic signals generated from body tissues; an optical fiber which is arranged to penetrate through the photoacoustic signal detector, and emits laser onto the body tissues; a ultrasound transducer which is integrated with the photoacoustic signal detector, and allows treatment inducement for body tissues to be performed by emitting ultrasound waves to the body tissues; a photoacoustic signal analyzer which is connected to the photoacoustic signal detector, and deducts state information for body tissues from the detected photoacoustic signals; an optical controller which is connected to the optical fiber, and delivers laser having output characteristics set for the optical fiber; and an ultrasound controller which is connected to the ultrasound transducer, and controls the operation of the ultrasound transducer. Therefore, both monitoring and diagnosis for body tissues by photoacoustic signals, and treatment inducement for body tissues by ultrasound waves are integrally performed.
