<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate valve which is capable of surely performing flow rate adjustment at a little flow rate with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: In the gate valve 10, a valve element 32 and a valve stem 33 are mutually movably connected, so that, when opening the valve element 32, an auxiliary valve portion 38 provided to the valve stem 33 is opened first, and valve opening with a very small opening degree is performed. In such a case, the auxiliary valve portion 38 is provided integrally with the valve stem 33 and the auxiliary valve portion 38 is opened by stroke of the valve stem 33 with respect to the valve element 32 only by making the valve stem 33 movable between stoppers 43A and 43B with respect to the valve element 32, so that any particular mechanism is not required.
