The invention relates to a reactor vessel for suspending media particles, such as ion exchange resin particles,in a fluid. An air injection device is situated near the reactor bottom and a draft tube extends along the center line, substantially above the air injection device. The air injection device is spaced at a predetermined distance from the bottom, a fluid passage being defined between a lower surface of the injection device and the bottom. This allows for adjustable efficient suspension of the media particles so as to prevent vertical stratification without "dead areas" being formed near the bottom in which particles can accumulate. At the same time air inflow areas can be created extending sideways beyond the draft tube over a larger distance for creating proper turbulence in these zone required for interface reactions at relatively small vertical reactor dimensions. |
