摘要 Disclosed are a system and a method for detecting a human in a distance image by template matching. According to the present invention, the method performed by a system for detecting a human in an image comprises the following steps: receiving a distance image from a distance sensor; generating a UV-disparity map based on vertical and horizontal characteristics of an object included in the distance image; setting a human candidate area with respect to vertical and horizontal lines expressed on the UV-disparity map; and detecting a human by performing the template matching between the human candidate area and an omega template image. Accordingly, the speed of detecting the human in the distance image can be increased by applying a convolution operation, which uses fast Fourier transformation, to the template matching for detecting the human in the distance image.
