536,994. Lamps with trough-shaped reflectors. STUDHOLME, J., and BENJAMIN ELECTRIC, Ltd. Feb. 28, 1940, No. 3651. [Classes 75 (ii), 75 (iii) and 75 (iv)] A trough lighting-unit for use with one or more tubular, preferaby fluorescent, lamps comprises a housing A for control accessories such as chokes, condensers and switches, a rigid longitudinal member or box B supporting the housing and serving as a wiring channel, and a troughreflector C detachably secured to the member B. The construction enables the component parts to be conveniently stocked or transported. The preferred construction comprises also the following features:-The housing A is secured by screws to the box B, and the accessories are mounted on the bottom of the box and project through an aperture 1, in the top. The reflector C is connected to the box at the ends and middle the end connections consisting of wing-nuts 5b, Fig. 2 (not shown), and the middle connection consisting of a pivot-stud mounted on the reflector and engaging a key-hole slot in the box, or vice versa. The lamps are supported by feltlined hooks 6a which are connected by hinges 7 to the box. The ends of the lamps are covered by reflector-plates 8 having felt strips 8c and lugs 8d for engaging the lamps, and slots 6c in the hooks 6a respectively. The unit is suspended from rods 10 each carrying a dished washer engaging a stirrup 11 which is formed with slots 11b for engaging screws 14 on the box. Chainlugs 15 are also provided. |
