PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage to a solid polymer electrolyte membrane as much as possible by securely stopping stress from concentrating on an overlap region of a protective film and a catalyst layer with simple constitution.SOLUTION: A fuel battery 10 has an electrolyte membrane-electrode structure 12 held between a cathode-side separator 14 and an anode-side separator 16. The cathode-side separator 14 is provided with a first relief step part 28a in a portion opposed to a first overlap region 24a of an outer peripheral edge of a first electrode catalyst layer 20a and a first protective film 24. The anode-side separator 16 is provided with a second relief step part 28b in a portion opposed to a second overlap region 26a of an outer peripheral edge of a second electrode catalyst layer 22a and a second protective film 26. |
