<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense a temperature in a cylinder block with high sensitivity by a temperature sensing part of a thermostat in a cooling apparatus including the thermostat for limiting a flow of cooling water into the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine during warm-up or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The temperature sensing part 105 of a second thermostat 100 for limiting circulation of the cooling water in the cylinder block 3 of an engine 1 is disposed in an intra-block cooling water passage 31 (in a water jacket on a block side). In addition, the temperature sensing part 105 (a case 151 in which thermowax 153 is stored) of the second thermostat 100 is brought into contact with a cylinder bore wall 3a of the cylinder block 3 directly or via a metallic plate 110, thereby allowing the temperature in the cylinder block 3 to be sensed with high sensitivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
