PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel cobalt complex hydroxide capable of being used as a precursor of a positive electrode active material offering excellent battery characteristics and a high density.SOLUTION: The nickel cobalt complex hydroxide is represented by the formula: NiCoMnM(OH), where 0<x≤1/3, 0≤y≤1/3, 0≤z≤0.1, and M represents one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Al, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, and W. The specific surface area of the nickel cobalt complex hydroxide determined by the nitrogen adsorption BET method is 1.0-10.0 m/g, and the carbon content of the nickel cobalt complex hydroxide determined by high-frequency combustion infrared detection is lower than or equal to 0.1 mass%. |
