<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro mechanical actuator (EMA) for an aircraft that has a manual operation mechanism that can be activated manually and safely. <P>SOLUTION: An electro mechanical actuator 1 for an aircraft includes a rod manual operation mechanism 8 that has: a manual force transfer member 26 that meshes with a ring gear 20 of a planetary gear mechanism 3; a plunger 27 that has a first end engaged with an end of a rod-like member 30, which is provided in the manual force transfer member 26, in such a manner that the plunger 27 is axially movable relative to the rod-like member 30, and a second end 27d to which manual operating force is to be applied; and a coil spring 28 that is arranged in a gap between a casing 12a and the plunger 27. The plunger 27 is in serration engagement 27b with an inner wall of the casing 12a. The plunger 27 is pushed into the casing 12a, against urging force of the coil spring 28, by applying manual operating force to the second end 27d of the plunger 27.
