The present invention relates to an interactive conversation type store guidance robot and a control method thereof capable of guiding the position of a destination which a customer requires in wide stores to sell all kinds of products including home appliances or public facilities with a voice signal. The interactive conversion type store guidance robot comprises: a body in which a camera, a microphone, and a speaker are installed; a customer recognition part to recognize a customer in an image signal of the camera; a distance detection part to detect a distance to the customer in the image signal of the camera; a voice signal recognition part to recognize a voice signal of the customer inputted through the microphone; a voice signal generation part to generate a voice guidance signal and then to output the signal to the speaker; and a control part to control the voice signal generation part such that a guidance message to allow the customer to speak the destination can be generated and then outputted to the speaker if the determined distance to the customer is within a preset distance and then to control the voice signal recognition part such that the voice guidance signal of the relevant destination can be generated and then outputted to the speaker in accordance to the destination of the customer who the voice signal recognition part recognizes.
