The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing local area information based on Android using a direct operational channel and, more particularly, to a method and apparatus which have an application based on Android mounted in a set-top box, and can provide the local area information to users through the direct operational channel by using the mounted Android application. In particular, the present invention can induce the users to easily access the direct operational channel, and can improve the utility of the direct operational channel by providing the local information which is highly interested by the users and various content related thereto in a familiar UI pattern. Also, the present invention allows local people to easily access information to enjoy leisure time, the entertainment, and a cultural life by providing local information to the users in a bidirectional data service through the direct operational channel. Accordingly, the present invention can improve the reliability and competitiveness in a field of local broadcast such as a cable TV, and a field of broadcast similar therewith, and also, can contribute to the improvement of life satisfaction of the local people, which is promoted by a local government, and to a local development plan. |
