The present invention relates to a refrigerator and a control method thereof and, more specifically, relates to a refrigerator and a control method thereof capable of providing information related to a food stored in the refrigerator without a user opening a door. According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is the refrigerator comprising: a storage room formed by a fixated insulation wall in a main body of the refrigerator, having an opening unit; a door to open and shut the opening unit by being placed on the main body to be able to rotate; a drawer placed in the storage room; a camera fixated on a ceiling of the storage room to photograph an area (first area) wherein food is stored in an external space of the drawer of the storage room, and an area (second area) wherein food is stored in an internal space of the drawer of the storage room; and a control unit to separate a portion of the first area and a portion of the second area in a picture through a photographing time point of the picture in which the first area and the second area are photographed together, and individually assorted and stored at the same. |
