[Problem] To provide a permanent magnet using Ce, which has a large magnetic anisotropy and is abundantly available, in rare-earth permanent magnets. [Solution] According to the present invention, when the number of atoms of trivalent Ce and the number of atoms of quadrivalent Ce in a main phase particle are denoted by C3 and C4, respectively, the abundance ratio C3/(C3 + C4) is 0.1 to 0.5, inclusive. This obtains a permanent magnet having a large magnetic anisotropy attributable to the state of trivalent Ce. |
