PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of reducing uneven color in a projection image.SOLUTION: The illumination device includes: a laser module; a phosphor wheel 16 which has plural segments in a rotation direction of the aluminum substrate 104 arranged to be rotatable, in which at least one of the plural segments has a phosphor region for emitting a beam of fluorescent light by receiving a beam of light entering from the laser module; a rod integrator 72 that outputs the light from the phosphor wheel 16 entering into an incidence plane 72a as a uniform light in an output plane 72b; and a filter wheel 80 that has plural segments in a rotation direction of a base plate 84 which is adapted to rotate synchronously with the phosphor wheel 16, in which at least one of the plural segments has a color filter which limits the wavelength of the light entering from the rod integrator 72 and outputs the same, and in which the boundary positions at both ends of the segment having the color filter are positioned at the positions corresponding to a segment which has the same characteristics in the phosphor wheel 16. |
