<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of latch noise upon opening of a mail box, etc.SOLUTION: A character combination lock comprises: a cylindrical main body part 1; a dial operation board 4 which rotates on a dial center shaft 3; a plurality of rotors 5, 6 rotated to locking or unlocking position by operation on the dial operation board; a latch member 7; and a locking member 8. The latch member consists of: a main latch 20 abutting to a locking piece 8a of the locking member; and a sub latch 30 which is connected to the main latch via a movable shaft in a hung manner and being detachable from a stopper member 40 supported on the main latch or the cylindrical main body part in a fixed manner. Upon unlocking, when the cylindrical main body part is moved to an opening direction, a projecting outer end part of the sub latch comes in contact with a receiving piece 71 on a fixed member side so that the sub latch is rotated in a direction toward a back end surface side of the cylindrical main body part. An engaging arm of the sub latch is engaged with a fingertip shaped engaging part 41 of the stopper member in a surface contacting state in a corresponding manner to rotation of the sub latch so that the sub latch is held by the stopper member.</p> |
