PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge protector.SOLUTION: A surge protector includes a dielectric member 50, two conductive plates, and an insulating enclosure 53. The dielectric member 50 is a plate body made of a polycrystalline semiconductor ceramic material, and has both side surfaces facing each other, each side surface being attached with an electrode. In each of the two conductive plates, a portion adjacent to one end thereof is attached to each electrode by a surface contact method, and the other end serves as a connection for electrically connecting with a power feeding terminal of an electronic facility. A middle section located between both ends of at least one plate is formed to have a smaller cross-sectional area than other sections thereof. When the middle section is subjected to a large current to generate a high temperature exceeding a predetermined threshold value, the middle section is melted and broken to perform a fuse-like function. The insulating enclosure 53 encloses the dielectric member 50 and the conductive plates, encloses the middle section of each of the conductive plates, and exposes the connection. |
