SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LIQUEFYING NATURAL GAS

[Problem] To remove heavy matter contained in a feed gas in a liquefaction system in which the feed gas is cooled to yield liquefied natural gas, without requiring any device exclusively for removal of the heavy matter from the feed gas. [Solution] A liquefaction system (1) equipped with: an absorption column (2) in which acidic gases contained in a feed gas are removed; and a liquefaction device (6) in which the feed gas from which the acidic gases were removed is heat-exchanged with a refrigerant to liquefy the feed gas. The feed gas has a total concentration of benzene, toluene, and xylene as heavy hydrocarbons of 0.1 mol% or less. In the acidic-gas removal device is used a mixed absorbent obtained by mixing a chemical absorbent for absorbing acidic gases with a physical absorbent for absorbing heavy hydrocarbons.
