PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve junction strength in a composite member in which a cubic crystal boron nitride sintered body and a WC based cemented carbide are joined via a junction member, or in a cutting tool composed of the composite member.SOLUTION: A composite member in which a cubic crystal boron nitride sintered body and a WC based cemented carbide are joined via a junction member containing at least Ti and Ni by 10 atom% or more respectively is characterized in that (a), on the interface between the cemented carbide and the junction member, a TiC primary layer is formed and a Ti/Ni concentrated layer is formed and (b) an intermittent network structure containing Ti, Ni and C respectively by 10 atm% or more is formed adjacently to the TiC primary layer and, favorably on the interface between the cubic crystal boron nitride sintered body and the junction member, an acicular structure containing Ti, B and N is formed adjacently to cubic crystal boron nitride particles. A cutting tool comprising the composite member is also provided. |
