PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink which can record an image having excellent ozone resistance and high optical density.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous ink containing a coloring material and a water-soluble organic solvent. The coloring material contains a compound represented by the general formula (I) in the figure, where M each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, ammonium or organic ammonium. The water-soluble organic solvent comprises at least one of triethylene glycol monobutyl ether and 1,2-hexanediol.
