PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when arraying intervals in a main scanning direction of a plurality of recording heads are different, if a suction cap and a moisture holding cap are reciprocated simultaneously, the cap contacts a nozzle so that a meniscus may be destroyed.SOLUTION: A second maintenance/recovery part 80B has: a motor 231 that drives both cap movement mechanisms 81A and 81B of a first maintenance/recovery part 80A and the second maintenance/recovery part 80B; and an intermediate gear 245a that transmits driving force of the motor 231 to the first maintenance/recovery part 80A. The motor 231 and the intermediate gear 245a can be reciprocated together with the second maintenance/recovery part 80B in a sub scanning direction; the intermediate gear 245a is in a connection state to the cap movement mechanism 81A at a first position of the second maintenance/recovery part 80B, and reciprocates all of a plurality of caps 82a-82d; and the intermediate gear 245a is in a non-connection state to the cap movement mechanism 81A at a second position of the second maintenance/recovery part 80B, and reciprocates only a suction cap 82a of the second maintenance/recovery part 80B.
