424,738. Pneumatic tyres. MICHELIN ET CIE, Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dome, France. April 18, 1934, No. 11723. Convention date, May 10, 1933. [Class 144 (ii)] A pneumatic tyre is fitted with two airtubes 3, 6 with separate inflationvalves 7, 8, the inner tube 6 being embraced by the tube 3 which is seated on a security-ring 5. The tube 3, which may be formed as described in Specification 379,925, is inflated to a higher pressure than the tube 6 so that the latter normally assumes the position shown in Fig. 2. On collapse of the tube 3, the tube 6 expands to support the tyre tread, Figs. 3 and 4, showing respectively the tyre under load before and after deflation of the tube 3. The tube 6 is reinforced with canvas so disposed that the effect of inflation is to expand the tread-side and contract the rim-side of the tube. |
