PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high water temperature tolerance genes of Nori (red alga of the genus Pyropia) and methods for selecting high water temperature tolerant Nori strains using them.SOLUTION: Provided are high water temperature (high temperature) tolerant genes of Nori, each of which comprises one of a polynucleotide of a specified base sequence, a polynucleotide comprising a base sequence complementary to the specified sequence and a polynucleotide that hybridizes to any of the above polynucleotides under stringent conditions. There is also provided a method for selecting high temperature tolerant Nori strains, which method uses the expression level of the high temperature tolerance gene induced by a raised water temperature treatment as an index, and selects Nori expressing the gene at a high level as a strain of high temperature tolerance. |
