PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for producing an insulation material in which excellent insulation capability can be obtained, even without increasing the thickness of the insulation layer, by improving the dispersibility of the inorganic filler; a master batch; an insulation material; and power cable.SOLUTION: The method includes a first mixing step for mixing a base resin comprising polyethylene and maleic anhydride-modified polyethylene, and an inorganic filler to form a master batch, and a second mixing step for further mixing polyethylene into the master batch to form an insulation material, and in which the co-polymerization rate of maleic anhydride in the maleic anhydride-modified polyethylene is 0.1% or more and 0.5% or less, and the melt flow rate of the maleic anhydride-modified polyethylene measured at temperature of 190°C and loading of 2.16 kgf is 1/2-fold or more and 2-fold or less of the melt flow rate of the polyethylene.
