The invention relates to a method for ascertaining a movement state of a vehicle using a first yaw rate sensor. A vibration signal (VS) is ascertained by means of a low-pass filtering process dependent on a first measurement signal (MS) of the yaw rate sensor, said vibration signal representing a rotational movement of the vehicle. It is determined whether the vehicle is at a standstill or whether the vehicle is moving dependent on a comparison of the vibration signal (VS) with a specified threshold.
