PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a fuel cell.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system comprises: a raw fuel supply passage 21 in which the raw fuel flows; a reforming part 12 into which the raw fuel is introduced from the raw fuel supply passage 21 to reform the fuel with steam and generate reformed gas containing hydrogen; a fuel cell stack 13 in which oxygen in an oxidizer gas and hydrogen in the reformed gas from the reforming part 12 are reacted with each other to generate power; a branch passage 45 branched from the raw fuel supply passage 21; and an opening/closing valve 50 for opening/closing the branch passage 45. The opening/closing valve 50 is opened when fuel supply from the raw fuel supply passage 21 to the reforming part 12 is stopped.
