PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately adjust an imaging condition even under an imaging situation where an imaging direction changes by a large amount.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100 comprises: an imaging situation identifying unit 4 which identifies the imaging situation of a subject by an imaging unit 3; and a measurement area setting unit 5a which, on the basis of the change degree of the imaging direction of the imaging unit assumed for each identified imaging situation of the subject, sets the size of the measurement area for measuring the state of the subject.
