摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fuel economy of a hybrid electric vehicle that functions to travel while switching a travel mode over between a series HV travel mode and a parallel HV travel mode.SOLUTION: An SOC range Rng(S) of a power storage device in a series HV travel mode is on a lower side than an SOC range Rng(P) of the power storage device in a parallel HV travel mode. By suppressing an SOC in the series HV travel mode, the degree of freedom of a power storage device can be improved in the parallel HV mode. As a result, even in the parallel HV travel mode in which the number of revolutions of an engine is restricted in response to a vehicle velocity, engine efficiency can be easily improved by setting an engine operating point to generate not only travel power but also charge power of the power storage device.
