PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to which an option device can be attached and can increase convenience for developers and users.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a body storage unit that stores control information having control conditions for an option device defined therein, and a body control unit that causes a printing unit to perform an operation according to the control conditions for the option device and gives an operation instruction to an option control unit on the basis of the control conditions for the option device. When an incompatible error occurs, the option control unit transmits the control information stored in the option storage unit to the body control unit, and the body control unit updates the control information so that the control information stored in the body storage unit can be compatible with the specification of the option device. |
