1. A telecommunications chip card for enabling the login of a mobile telephone device into a digital cellular mobile telecommunications network comprising:
a chip card reader interface adapted for enabling communications between the telecommunications chip card and the mobile telephone device; a chip card processor; a secure memory for storing programs for execution by the chip card processor; and an executable program stored in the secure memory comprising machine readable instructions; wherein execution of the program causes the chip card processor to perform the steps of: performing a first cryptographic mutual authentication between the telecommunications chip card and a terminal device via the chip card reader interface, wherein the terminal device has a chip card reader operable for connecting to the chip card reader interface; receiving a configuration message via the chip card reader interface; storing the configuration message in the secure memory; deleting the executable program from the secure memory, such that the telecommunications chip card can be modified only once.
