<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document carrying device and an image reader, for stably carrying documents and obtaining good read images while inhibiting a failure in carrying the documents. <P>SOLUTION: The document carrying device includes a feed roller 21 and a separation member 22 for separating documents on a feed tray from one another and feeding them, and a pair of carrying rollers 23 for carrying the separated documents. It has: a first carrying mode for stopping the feed roller 21 until the rear end of the document being read while being carried by the pair of carrying rollers passes through a nip part between the feed roller 21 and the separation member 22; and a second carrying mode for re-driving the feed roller 21 before the rear end of the document passes through the nip part between the feed roller 21 and the separation member 22, and for restoring the feed roller 21 into the stopped condition after it passes through the nip part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
