An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention comprises: an input unit having a display module and a camera for recognizing text input by using photographed images; a sensor unit including a touch sensor for determining the text input by recognizing touches, and an electromyogram sensor unit for detecting the text input by recognizing a change in muscle movements; a key pad having a first key group characterized by including three keys for performing a first input and a second input by sensing inputs using the sensor unit, a second key group characterized by including three keys for performing a first input and a second input, a shift key individually formed in the first and second key groups to perform the first and second inputs; and a processor for controlling a wireless communications unit including Bluetooth. The processor includes a text inputting device characterized by performing the following operations: recognizing key selection; activating the recognized key; generating a text message with respect to the activated key; and transmitting the text message to a second electronic device to display the generated text message. A text inputting method of the electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention comprises the following operations: recognizing key selection; activating the recognized key; generating a text message with respect to the activated key; and transmitting the generated text message to the second electronic device to display the text message.
