A USB receptacle capable of fitting to a USB plug in a fitting direction is disclosed. The USB receptacle comprises: a maintenance member which is made of an insulator, a shell which is made of a conductor, and a detection pin which is made of a conductor different from that of the shell. The detection pin is made of an elastic material, and is maintained at the maintenance member so as not to come in direct contact with the shell. The detection pin has a first contact portion and a second contact portion. The first contact portion and the second contact portion are fitted to a part of the plug shell of the USB plug when the USB receptacle is fitted to the USB plug. In a state where the USB receptacle is not fitted to the USB plug, the first contact portion and the second contact portion satisfy an inequality (b-a)<T, where ″a″ is the distance from the center of the USB receptacle to the first contact portion in a perpendicular direction to the fitting direction, ″b″ is the distance from the center to the second contact portion, and ″T″ is the plate thickness of a standard shell of a standard USB plug based on a USB standard. |
