According to the present invention, a USB keyboard device having a proximity sensor mounted thereon, includes: a proximity sensor unit which outputs a gesture identification signal generated according to the motion of a user′s body in free space; a keyboard scan unit which scans and outputs key scan signals of keys each time one of the keys is pressed or released after being pressed; a keyboard control unit which outputs the input key scan signals to a report generation unit or outputs a function setting signal generated to correspond to the gesture identification signal to the report generation unit; a descriptor storage unit which stores a descriptor structure configured to be recognized as a complex USB device having a logical USB keyboard function and a USB HID function by a host computer; a USB usage table storage unit including USB HID usage pages in accordance with the USB HID standards; the report generation unit which respectively generates a USB report for the keyboard function based on the key scan signals or the USB report based on the function setting signal by referencing the usage page stored in the USB usage table storage unit and the report format specified in the descriptor storage unit; and a USB interface transmitting the generated USB report to a host computer.
