The method involves hardening the bearing seats and adjoining segments of the side surfaces. The hardened bearing seats are rotationally milled and the hardened adjoining sections of the side surfaces are also rotationally milled. The rotationally milled bearing seats are turn-broached on finished dimension. The hardened bearing seats with a transition radius are orthogonally rotationally milled in one or multiple sections.
