The present invention relates to an electric compressor comprising: a sensing part (10) for sensing a refrigerant state of an electric compressor; a wire connecting part (20) wound in a location adjacent to a flow path (3) of a housing (2) wherein a refrigerant flows inside the electric compressor; and a controlling part (30) for controlling according to a state of the refrigerant by differently controlling power applied to the wire connecting part (20) according to sensed data sensed through the sensing part (10). Moreover, a method for controlling an electric compressor comprises: a step (ST10) for performing position alignment with respect to a rotor after turning on power of an electric compressor; a refrigerant state determining step (ST20) for determining whether a refrigerant is a liquid state or a gas state after position alignment with respect to the rotor is performed; a step (ST30) for performing pre-heating with respect to the refrigerant by applying power to the electric compressor according to a state of the refrigerant; and a step (ST40) for controlling the electric compressor to a normal operating state after pre-heating.
