Mixed reality system comprising: a headset with a visor placed over the users eyes; image capture means (eg. camera) that captures images of the real world environment surrounding a user; a processor configured to: receive data from multiple sources; blend the data and selected portions or objects from the real world images into a 3D virtual environment; and display the resulting augmented reality on the headset screen. Cameras may be mounted on the head-mounted display (HMD) aligned with operators eyes. Imagers may be spatially seperated enabling creation of a stereoscopic depth map to produce a three dimensional picture. Displayed data may be manipulated using predefined hand gestures that are stored in a database and associated with control actions. A control signal may be generated by comparing or matching images of users hand gestures against the database. Inanimate items, features, regions or people may be specified for inclusion in the mixed reality. Display configuration settings, such as the nature, location and orientation of displayed information, may be stored and transferred from one real environment to a different real environment. |
