<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer which imparts a suitable viscosity to a solution containing a cellulosic biomass, on the production of the hydrolyzable cellulose from the cellulosic biomass as a raw material, wherein the decomposition of the cellulosic biomass to a molecular level can be facilitated, and the hydrolyzable cellulose can consequently efficiently be produced; and to provide a method for producing the hydrolyzable cellulose using the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer used for producing hydrolyzable cellulose from the cellulosic biomass as a raw material and having an average degree of polymerization of 300-4,000, a saponification degree of≥78.0 mol% and≤95.0 mol%, and a block character of a residual acetic acid group of≤0.495. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
